The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Council has declared the reservation a disaster area affecting the counties of Dewey and Ziebach as of June 16, 2010 from the 13  confirmed tornadoes and from the severe floods

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
June 17, 2010
Eagle Butte, SD- The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Council has declared the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation including the counties of Dewey and Ziebach, an Emergency Disaster Area follow ing the tornado damage and torrential rain sustained by the communities of Dupree, Lantry, Bear Creek and surrounding residences. The following public service announcement is in effect until further notice. Reporting Home Damages or Seeking Further Information In order to best coordinate communications, relief efforts, and resource distribution, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe has established an Emergency Operations Center. If you are in need of assistance or have important infonnation please call (605) 964-1313, 964-1314, or 964-1317. For all other emergencies such, as medical or law enforcement please call 911 . If there is no answer then call to the Command Center, they may be assisting other callers.

Emergency Shelters
• Dupree Elementary School is being operated by the American Red Cross as a community shelter, contact Nancy at (605) 222-3344 or Mary at (605) 202-1536. Will be closed tomorrow.
• CEB Girls Dorm, contact person Harley Morgan at (605)-365-6250/6290 or Dr. Cherie Farlee at (605) 365-6629 or (605) 964-8722.
• Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Medicine Wheel Elderly Village is being operated also as a community shelter, contact Aaron at (605) 964-8155, 964- 8156, or 964- 8157.

Food Stations

• Dupree United Church of Christ 605-365-5141, contact person Pauline Webb at (605)964-3547 or (605) 200-0034 providing 3 meals per day. Dupree YMCA, contact Bill or Denise at (605) 365-5232, or (605) 365-5529, both are providing meal services for shelter victims in Dupree.

Power Outage Safety
Never approach downed power lines and infonn your utility company of location. If using a generator, do not connect it to your home power system unless it has been properly installed and should be disconnected from the main power grid when it is operating. If you do not disconnect from the power grid, you can be sending electricity back down the lines that could be deadly for power company workers. Transportation to Shelter and Meal Services For those utilizing the community shelters or meal services please contact the Community Transit Operator at 605-964-1313, 605-964-1314, or 605-964-1317
Safe Drinking Water Supply Due to recent flooding of sewer treatment lagoons and damage to individual homesite septic tanks, residents should not collect water for drinking water supply. If your home is without a water supply contact the Emergency Operations Center.
Pharmacy Hours Due to the disaster the l.H.S. will be extending their pharmacy hours for 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for Saturday and Sunday.

Mental Health Service
Counseling services will be provided for tbe storm victims at tbe Dupree high scbool north side of the building from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. tben in the Bear Creek Community at 4:00 p.m. in the community building they will be doing individual briefing and group debriefing.
